5 slices fresh ger
2 namon sticks
6 cups water
6 bags black (preferably Darjeeling) or 3 Tablespoons
2 cups k
1/4 cup wn sugar
Using mallet or back of large spoon, lightly crush or bruise pepper, cloves, cardamom. Combine first 5 ingredients in medium saucepan. Add 6 cups water; bring to boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, parially cover pan, and simmer gently 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add tea bags and steep 5 minutes. Discard tea bags. Add sugar, dissolve, and then add milk. Bring tea just to simmer over high heat. Strain chai and serve hot.
