Kid Friendly Fourth of July Desserts Cookies Summer Sweet

1/2 cup dered sugar
1/3 cup ar
1/3 cup rtening
1
1/2 teaspoon illa
1/8 teaspoon t
1 1/2 cups cake ur
1 1/2 teaspoons ing powder
1 tablespoon water
1 cup dered sugar
1/2 teaspoon Unsweetened onade mix

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. 2. Cream together sugars, shortening, egg, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. 3. Add the flour and baking powder. Add 1 tablespoon of water and continue mixing until dough forms a ball. 4. Roll dough into 3/4-inch balls and flatten slightly onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until cookies are light brown. 5. As cookies bake, combine 1 cup powdered sugar with the lemonade drink mix in a large plastic bag and shake thoroughly to mix. 6. When the cookies are removed from the oven and while they are hot, add 4 or 5 at a time to the bag and shake it until the cookies are well coated. Repeat with the remaining cookies.

Orange Sunshine Salad

This simple yet festive salad is prepared with pineapple, mandarin oranges, cottage cheese, cool whip and orange gelatin. Mix, chill and serve.

1 large JELL-O sugar free atin (or two small)
2 cups hot water
2 cups cold water
1 cup crushed eapple (reserve 1 cup liquid for topping)
1 bag miniature shmallows

** TOPPING **
2 tablespoons ter
2 tablespoons ur
1 cup pinele juice
1/2 cup ar
1 small tub pped topping .
1/4 cup shredded ddar cheese

Prepare Jello with water, stir in drained pineapple, pour into 9" x 13" pan.. Cover with miniature marshmallows. Place in refrigerator to cool. Once cooled, spread topping over marshmallows. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. ** TOPPING ** Melt butter in saucepan, add flour for a rue and cook well over medium high heat. Slowly add pineapple juice, pour in sugar and whisk until mixture thickens. Put in the refrigerator to cool. Once the JELL-O mixture has set up, mix the topping mixture with a small tub of Cool Whip. Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 108 Calories; 4g Fat (35.1% calories from fat); 1g Protein; 17g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 8mg Cholesterol; 39mg Sodium.
