For Cake Melt 2 choclate squares, 1 stick of butter, 1/2 c shortening and 1 cup of water in sauce pan. In seprate bowl add sugar, flour, slat baking soda and mix, gradually stir in melted chocalte mixture. Then add buttermilk and eggs, mixing well and add the vanilla. Poor mixture into 9 X 12 pyrex dish that has been greased and floured. Mixture will be very thin. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 to 45 minutes. Cool before icing For icing Melt 1 chocolate square, 1 stick of butter and 8 tbs of milk in sauce pan. Gradually stir in 1 box of powdered sugar. May add more milk if mixture to thick and dry. Spread over cake.
